ABE Takes 2nd at OSU Competition
May 19th, 2006 - American Bio Energy takes home a 2nd place finish at The Ohio State
University 2006 Fisher College of Business Center for Entrepreneurship Business Plan
Competition.
The Center for Entrepreneurship at the Fisher College of Business is an official
academic center of The Ohio State University. Launched in November 2001, the
Center facilitates entrepreneurs that will impact a global economy and stimulates
economic growth by assisting new company formation and recognizing strong
entrepreneurial skills and experiences.
"The Business Plan Competition works to spotlight and encourage the
entrepreneurial talent that exists in central Ohio," said Larry Hilsheimer,
Deloitte & Touche USA LLP, vice chairman and regional managing partner of
Strategic Clients for Deloitte's North Central Offices. "We are impressed
with how the quality of ideas has progressed throughout the life of this
program."
ABE Co-founders Brian Swalwell and Paul Proffitt were on hand at the award's
banquet to accept from Deloitte & Touche's Mr. Hilsheimer.
"This is an excellent validation of our business and strategy to bring
alternative fuels to Ohio," said Swalwell.
This year's competition consisted of over 130 teams submitting plans. The
top six teams went to the finals and the top three teams received awards, a cash
prize, and in-kind donations from service providers to help their ventures.
"This year's competition was very tough and all of the finalists have really
great ideas. I'm pleased with our finish and hope this will spawn more
great things for ABE," said Proffitt.
